West Bromwich Albion officially sack former Manchester United coach as manager

West Bromwich Albion have announced the departure of head coach Eric Ramsay after only a month in charge, plunging the Championship club into fresh managerial turmoil as they battle to avoid relegation.
The 21st-placed Baggies confirmed on their official website that Ramsay, 32, has left The Hawthorns along with assistant head coach Dennis Lawrence. First-team coach James Morrison will again step up as interim boss, a role he held for five days in January before Ramsay’s arrival.
Ramsay’s exit comes on the back of a winless run that has left West Brom hovering one point above the drop zone, with Leicester City poised to leapfrog them into the relegation places alongside Oxford United and Sheffield Wednesday.
A former Manchester United individual coach under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag, Ramsay joined West Brom on 11 January 2026 after two years with Minnesota United in Major League Soccer. His tenure marks the club’s second managerial change of the campaign; Ryan Mason began the season in the dug-out but was dismissed on 6 January.
In a brief statement, the club thanked Ramsay and Lawrence for their efforts and wished them well for the future, but gave no indication of whether a permanent successor will be appointed or whether Morrison will be asked to steer the squad through the remainder of the season.
West Bromwich Albion’s next fixture is now clouded by uncertainty as the board weigh up another recruitment decision in a campaign already defined by upheaval.
