Two North Texas Cities Selected to Host World Cup Training Sites

With fewer than 100 days until the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off across North America, North Texas has secured a pair of pivotal roles in the tournament’s behind-the-scenes operations. FIFA has designated two cities in the region as official base-camp hubs where national teams will train and prepare throughout the competition.

Frisco, already a focal point of American soccer as the home of Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas, will welcome one delegation to Toyota Stadium, the club’s 20,500-seat soccer-specific venue that has hosted MLS regular-season and playoff fixtures for nearly two decades. A short drive south, Mansfield will unveil its new Mansfield Stadium—currently under construction—as the second training headquarters. Although FC Dallas plans to use the facility as the future home of its reserve side, the pristine ground will first serve World Cup squads seeking a secluded, state-of-the-art environment to fine-tune tactics and fitness.

The selections reinforce Texas’s status as a centerpiece of the expanded 48-team tournament. AT&T Stadium in nearby Arlington—branded “Dallas Stadium” by FIFA for the event—will stage nine matches, the highest single-venue tally of any host stadium, including a marquee semifinal. While global attention will center on those high-stakes games, the day-to-day grind of preparation will unfold in Frisco and Mansfield, giving local fans rare proximity to elite-level training sessions and the international media circus that accompanies them.
