Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard has highlighted Dominik Szoboszlai as the Reds standout who has “really stepped forward” and “gone to another level” during a campaign that has fallen short of expectations at Anfield.

Interest is circling: Spanish outlet Defensa Central report Real Madrid are monitoring the situation, and Hungary coach Marco Rossi has previously stated that playing for the Bernabu giants is the midfielder’s “dream”.

For now, Szoboszlai’s focus is domestic. A top-four finish is the minimum target, while a run to the Europa League final in Budapest offers the romantic possibility of lifting a first European trophy with the Reds on home soil. Gerrard’s public endorsement only adds weight to the argument that Liverpool’s No.8 has become indispensable, and maintaining his upward trajectory could yet define the club’s season.
