Liverpool yet to open contract renewal talks with Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool have not approached Alexis Mac Allister about extending his stay at Anfield, the player’s father and agent, Carlos Mac Allister, confirmed on Thursday, barely a day after the club announced a six-year extension for Ryan Gravenberch.
“There are no negotiations with Liverpool to renew the contract,” Carlos Mac Allister told Argentine outlet WinWin, ending speculation that the World Cup winner would be next to commit his long-term future to the Reds.
Mac Allister’s existing deal runs until June 2028, but the absence of formal discussions has fuelled uncertainty over the 25-year-old’s role in Liverpool’s long-term planning. Real Madrid have tracked the Argentine international since his arrival in England, while Manchester United have recently emerged as admirers, adding external pressure on sporting director Richard Hughes.
The midfielder's importance to Arne Slot’s side is beyond question: he has started 24 of Liverpool’s 29 Premier League fixtures this term, chipping in with two goals and two assists. Yet while talks continue with Dominik Szoboszlai and Gravenberch’s contract was swiftly secured through 2032 following his renaissance under Slot, Mac Allister’s camp has received no comparable offer.
The situation risks echoing previous contract impasses at Anfield, most recently involving Trent Alexander-Arnold, and leaves Hughes facing a critical decision on whether to accelerate negotiations or gamble on one of the squad’s most consistent performers entering the final stages of his current terms.
Liverpool, currently second in the table, can ill-afford distractions as the season enters its decisive months, but failure to secure Mac Allister’s future could invite serious interest from Spain and across the Premier League.
