Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has unveiled the XI that will attempt to stretch the club’s advantage at the summit of La Liga when RCD Mallorca visit Spotify Camp Nou on match-day 23. The team sheet carries several eye-catching tweaks from the midweek Copa del Rey assignment against Albacete.
The most striking omission is Frenkie de Jong, who drops out entirely as 20-year-old academy product Marc Casado is handed a rare start. Further up the engine room, Flick has paired Dani Olmo and Fermín López, relegating teenage pivot Marc Bernal to the bench.
In defence, Pau Cubarsí is restored to the heart of the back four alongside Eric García, pushing Ronald Araújo out of the match-day squad. The full-back berths revert to Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde, displacing João Cancelo and Gerard Martín.
The attacking trident is headlined by Robert Lewandowski, preferred to Ferran Torres at centre-forward. Lamine Yamal retains his customary place on the right, while on-loan forward Marcus Rashford continues on the left as Raphinha remains unavailable.
Kick-off at the Camp Nou is fast approaching as Flick’s rejigged lineup seeks three points to keep Barcelona firmly in the driver’s seat atop the standings.
