‘Now he’s back, we can work miracles’ – Wojciech Szczęsny talks importance of Pedri’s return for Barcelona

Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny has underlined the significance of Pedri’s impending comeback, insisting the midfielder’s reappearance can transform a stuttering season into “miracles” after a hamstring lay-off kept the Spaniard out for the past month.

Pedri’s absence coincided with two damaging defeats—Atletico Madrid dumped Barça out of the Copa del Rey, and Girona inflicted a league setback—leaving Hansi Flick’s side searching for momentum. Szczęsny believes the 21-year-old’s return addresses far more than squad depth.

“People don’t realize how much we missed Pedri during his injury. Even when we were winning, something was missing. For me, he’s the best in the world in his position,” the Polish keeper told club media. “He controls everything: the rhythm, the confidence, the team’s identity. Now that he’s back, we can work miracles.”

The goalkeeper went further, claiming Pedri’s presence alters the entire complexion of the team. “With Pedri on the pitch, we’re a different beast. He makes the impossible look easy, and with him, anything is possible for Barça.”

Although Pedri is expected to be named in Sunday’s squad against Levante, coaching staff plan a cautious reintegration, with the Canary Islander initially earmarked for a substitute role as he rebuilds match sharpness.

Even a cameo appearance would represent a timely lift for a squad eager to reignite its domestic and cup ambitions.
