Man United Draw Firm Line on Rasmus Hojlund Amid Napoli Transfer Scheme

Manchester United have issued an unequivocal response to Napoli’s attempt to renegotiate the €44 million purchase clause for on-loan striker Rasmus Hojlund, insisting the pre-agreed figure will stand once the Serie A club secure Champions League qualification.

Hojlund, 20, left Old Trafford last summer after slipping down the pecking order following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. The Denmark international has since reignited his career in Naples, registering nine goals and two assists in nine league outings and 13 goals plus four assists across all competitions.

Under the terms of the season-long loan, Napoli are obligated to make the transfer permanent for €44 million should they finish inside the top four. With Antonio Conte’s side currently third—five points clear of fifth-placed Como—that contingency appears increasingly probable.

Italian outlet Tuttomercato reports that Napoli have already decided to retain Hojlund, describing him as the “perfect striker” capable of thriving in any tactical setup. Club officials, however, intend to approach United seeking a reduction on the fixed fee. Sources close to the English club told the same publication that “there is no doubt” the clause will be triggered, but “the Red Devils don’t appear willing to offer discounts.”

Should the obligation activate, Hojlund will sign a contract through 2030 that includes an €85 million release clause accessible only to foreign clubs. United, for their part, have budgeted on the income and anticipate both Hojlund and Marcus Rashford to be off the books ahead of next season.

The standoff sets the stage for a straightforward transaction once Napoli’s Champions League status is mathematically confirmed, leaving little room for the Italian club to haggle.
