Haaland agent dismisses talk of Barcelona transfer

Erling Haaland’s representative, Rafaela Pimenta, has moved swiftly to quash speculation linking the Manchester City striker with a switch to Barcelona, stressing that no approach has been made by the Catalan club and that her client is settled in England.

Haaland’s name surfaced among potential marquee signings during Barcelona’s ongoing presidential elections, with candidates eager to showcase ambitious recruitment plans to woo voters. Yet Pimenta told El Chiringuito TV that the chatter is unfounded.

“We have a lot of respect and admiration for Barcelona, but there hasn’t been any contact whatsoever — with Erling Haaland or with Barcelona’s management, regarding potential transfer targets,” she said.

The Norwegian international committed his long-term future to City in January 2023, penning a deal that runs until 2034. Pimenta underlined that the 23-year-old’s contentment at the Etihad makes any exit talk redundant.

“Also, because the player renewed his contract a few months ago, he’s very happy at Manchester City. Everything is going very well for him and we really have nothing to discuss about a transfer when everything is so good at City.”

With no negotiations initiated and Haaland tied to the Premier League champions for the next decade, Barcelona’s election-time rhetoric appears to have hit an early dead end.
