Barcelona turned down multiple loan approaches for Swedish winger Roony Bardghji during the January window, insisting the 20-year-old remain part of Hansi Flick’s first-team squad for the remainder of the season.

According to SPORT, a string of European clubs enquired about a temporary deal after Bardghji featured for only 192 of the 1,170 minutes played by the team so far this year—16 percent of available playing time. The youngster has started just twice in 11 official matches and was unused in six of them.

Flick and sporting director Deco responded to every inquiry with a firm “no,” arguing that the club could not afford to trim attacking depth with injuries a constant threat. The coaching staff also view Bardghji’s daily work at Ciutat Esportiva as valuable for his development, training alongside senior stars he grew up watching.

Sources close to the player say Bardghji never pushed for an exit, determined to maximise each opportunity, such as his standout display in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final when he scored once and set up two goals in place of the injured Lamine.

Yet the numbers highlight a dilemma: one start in 11 fixtures underlines how peripheral the winger remains. If the trend continues, Barcelona may revisit a summer loan or even consider permanent offers to ensure Bardghji’s progression does not stall.
