Inter Miami weighing up a move for Manchester United midfielder Casemiro

Inter Miami have joined the growing list of clubs monitoring Manchester United midfielder Casemiro ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Sun. The 33-year-old Brazilian is set to leave Old Trafford at the conclusion of the season and is seriously considering a switch to Major League Soccer.

Casemiro was photographed in Florida earlier this week surveying the area, a move interpreted by sources close to the negotiations as a clear sign that David Beckham’s franchise has moved to the front of the queue. Inter Miami are searching for a long-term successor to Sergio Busquets, who announced his retirement last year, and view the five-time Champions League winner as the ideal candidate to anchor midfield.

Since arriving from Real Madrid in August 2022 for a fee in the region of £70 million, Casemiro has made 150 appearances for United and, despite a spell of injuries, has re-emerged in recent months as a key performer for Erik ten Hag’s side. Further afield, Saudi Pro League clubs are keeping a close eye on developments, and a reunion with former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr remains a possibility. Yet sources indicate that the prospect of linking up with Lionel Messi in Fort Lauderdale is proving increasingly attractive to Casemiro, who spent almost a decade duelling with the Argentine in El Clásico encounters.

Inter Miami’s pursuit is said to be at an exploratory stage, but the club’s sporting department has already outlined a contract structure that would make the Brazilian one of the highest-paid defensive midfielders in MLS history. With the summer window still months away, United retain hope of persuading Casemiro to extend his stay, but the player is expected to weigh every option before committing to what could be the final lucrative chapter of an illustrious career.
