White Sox vs. Dodgers (2/26): Lineup Thoughts, Starting Pitchers, How to Watch

Glendale, Ariz. – The Chicago White Sox will test their early-spring momentum against the undefeated Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday afternoon at Camelback Ranch, with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m. CT and the contest streamed live on MLB.TV and carried on ESPN 1000.
Chicago enters at 4-2, buoyed by a retooled batting order that features outfielder Austin Hays atop the lineup for the first time this spring. Hays, signed to provide table-setting ability, has reached base four times in six plate appearances, collecting a pair of hits and two walks while showcasing the disciplined approach manager Will Venable wants at the front of the order.
Catching tandem Kyle Teel and Edgar Quero will share the field from the start for the first time in 2025 Cactus League play. Teel gets the nod behind the plate and will hit second; Quero, the designated hitter, slots fifth. The alignment allows both bats into the same lineup, a tactic the Sox employed more frequently late last season. Quero has been the hotter hand this spring, going 2-for-6, while Teel is still searching for his first hit and has fanned three times.
Prospect fever surrounds right fielder Braden Montgomery, the 22-year-old slugger whom many inside the organization expect to debut in the majors this summer. Montgomery turned on an RBI triple in his first week of exhibition play and is 2-for-6 overall. The White Sox have left the outfield picture fluid, in part to accommodate a potential mid-season promotion.
The rest of the Sox order: Munetaka Murakami at first, Lenyn Sosa at second, Curtis Mead at third, Derek Hill in center and Tanner Murray at shortstop.
On the mound, veteran left-hander Sean Newcomb will make his initial appearance in a White Sox uniform. Newcomb, 32, inked a one-year, $4.5 million deal during the off-season and posted a 2.73 ERA across 48 games (five starts) a year ago. Known for a heavy ground-ball rate and a refined mix that now includes a slurve and sinker to complement his fastball, Newcomb projects as a swingman who could log multiple-inning stints out of the bullpen or spot-start when needed.
He will oppose Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow, who has long ranked among baseball’s most overpowering starters when healthy. Glasnow’s fastball-slider-curve repertoire produced a 29 percent strikeout rate in 2025, placing him in the 87th percentile of big-league hurlers. Los Angeles enters the game 5-0 this spring.
The Dodgers’ lineup stacks proven stars around emerging talent: Miguel Rojas (SS), Kyle Tucker (DH), Will Smith (C), Freddie Freeman (1B), Teoscar Hernández (LF), Max Muncy (3B), Andy Pages (CF), Alex Call (RF) and Hyeseong Kim (2B).
First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. CT.
