Victor Musa: Man United talent in contention for prestigious award

Manchester United teenager Victor Musa has forced his way into Premier League 2 award conversations after a blistering March that underlined why the club moved to secure his signature last summer.

The 19-year-old, who joined United from Bradford City in 2023, has been shortlisted for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award following a sequence of influential displays for Adam Lawrence’s Under-21 side.

Musa, born in Spain and initially developed at CD Lourdes, has quickly adapted to life in United’s academy, registering four goals and one assist in 14 appearances across all competitions this season. Eleven of those outings have come in Premier League 2, where he has found the net four times.

March proved to be the winger’s most productive period yet. He started all four league matches, playing all but seven minutes of available game time, and scored three goals to propel United to back-to-back victories. A match-winning double against Southampton was followed by the decisive strike in a 1-0 triumph over Reading, results that have kept United’s age-group side firmly in the upper reaches of the table.

The Premier League Football Development Panel, responsible for both the shortlist and final selection, has yet to announce the date of the winner’s reveal, but Musa’s inclusion highlights the rapid progress he has made since arriving at Old Trafford less than a year ago.

While the youngster continues to catch the eye in academy football, attention at senior level turns to tonight’s crunch clash with Leeds United at Old Trafford, where Michael Carrick’s squad can capitalise on weekend stumbles by Chelsea and Aston Villa to strengthen their push for Champions League qualification.
