London, Thursday: The first player auction in the brief but eventful history of The Hundred lit up Piccadilly Lights as franchises spent big on uncapped domestic talent and proven overseas firepower to complete their 2026 rosters.
All-rounder James Coles became the competition’s first £300k-plus signing when London Spirit secured his services for £390,000, comfortably eclipsing the £300,000 Welsh Fire paid for last season’s Most Valuable Player, Jordan Cox. South African stars were the first international names under the hammer: David Miller’s explosive batting earned him a £110,000 move to Southern Brave, while national T20 captain Aiden Markram will head north to Manchester Super Giants after they tabled £200,000.
