Szoboszlai Had Passionate Words Ahead of the Second Leg

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has declared himself “ready to die” on the pitch as the Reds prepare to overturn a 2–0 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final second leg at Anfield.
A subdued Liverpool performance at the Parc des Princes last week left Arne Slot’s side two goals adrift, yet Szoboszlai insists the tie is far from over. “We’re going to go all in, we’re going to give our best,” the 25-year-old said. “From minute one until minute hopefully 90, because it can be enough, but even if it goes even more, 120, 125.”
The Hungary international, widely regarded as Liverpool’s standout performer in the 2025–26 campaign, believes the squad’s mentality and past European heroics can inspire another famous comeback. “Personally, I believe completely because I know what we are able to do,” he stressed. “I know what kind of players we have, I know what kind of mentality we have and we showed it many times.”
Szoboszlai conceded that erasing a two-goal margin against the holders would rank as the biggest comeback of his career, but argued that Anfield’s atmosphere can level the playing field. “Anfield is going to make a big impact tomorrow,” he noted. “It’s going to be not only 11 players or the subs who come in, it’s going to be the whole stadium.”
The midfielder also moved to mend fences with supporters after a gesture following the recent 4–0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City drew criticism. Describing the episode as “a misunderstanding,” Szoboszlai offered an apology and called for unity. “I’m feeling exactly the same way like they do,” he said. “We do really need everybody for what we have to do.”
With Liverpool facing elimination by PSG for the second consecutive season, Szoboszlai left no doubt about the team’s resolve: “We need to go all in and we need to give everything that is possible. At the end of the game if you say to yourself you gave everything and still we didn't go through, then you can still keep your chin up and say we tried it.”
