Swanepoel cleared to play for Worcestershire

Worcestershire have confirmed that South African all-rounder Beyers Swanepoel is free to join the squad after receiving his No Objection Certificate from Cricket South Africa. The 27-year-old, who signed a season-long red-ball contract in December, had been embroiled in a dispute with his former domestic side, the Lions, following his early departure from their 50-over cup final against Titans on 29 March.
The Lions alleged that Swanepoel left the field without permission and lacked the required NOC, a document essential for overseas players wishing to compete in English domestic cricket. With the paperwork now complete, Swanepoel can begin training immediately and work toward match fitness ahead of Worcestershire’s County Championship clash with Kent at New Road on 24 April.
To cover for any early-season shortfall while Swanepoel’s clearance was pending, Worcestershire secured Warwickshire seamer Olly Hannon-Dalby on a 14-day loan for the opening two rounds of the competition.
