Slot urges Liverpool focus for Wolves double-header

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has underlined the need for unwavering concentration as his side prepare for a pivotal seven-day stretch that opens with back-to-back meetings against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Reds travel to Molineux twice inside four days, first for a Premier League assignment on Tuesday night and then for an FA Cup fifth-round replay on Friday, before turning their attention to the first leg of their Champions League last-16 encounter with Galatasaray.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Slot rejected any suggestion that his squad could afford to let their attention drift during a season-defining sequence of fixtures. “I don’t think we’re in a position to lose focus,” he said. “No one is at this period of time—everyone is fighting for something, and we are. We have to fight really hard in the league to get, in the end, what we want now, and that’s to qualify for the Champions League. There’s an FA Cup to play for, so the focus will definitely be there.”

The unusual scheduling means Liverpool will face the same opponent in consecutive competitive matches away from home, a quirk Slot believes may streamline preparation rather than complicate it. “The only difference, indeed, is that it’s twice on their ground,” he noted. “Usually when you play in Europe you have a home and an away game. But it is the situation we are facing now, and maybe the only person it’s helpful for is our analysts and myself, because usually you watch a lot of games from the opponent. Now we’ve done this before this one, but before the next one we probably focus mainly on one game, and that’s the one of tomorrow. So it saves me a bit of time, maybe, in the upcoming days.”

With a top-four Premier League finish still to secure and silverware within reach on two additional fronts, Slot stressed that every session between now and the Galatasaray tie must carry maximum intensity. The Wolves double-header, he insists, is not a detour but a decisive step toward Liverpool’s broader objectives.
