Sanju Samson, Jasprit Bumrah lead four Indians in ICC T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament

India’s record-breaking third T20 World Cup crown has been reflected in the ICC’s official Team of the Tournament, with four members of the champion squad headlining the star-studded XI. Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah are the marquee names, joined by explosive left-hander Ishan Kishan and versatile all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Samson, adjudged Player of the Tournament, transformed India’s campaign after forcing his way into the playing XI. In five innings at the top of the order he piled up 321 runs, earning Player-of-the-Match honours against both the West Indies and England before capping the event with a breathtaking 89 against New Zealand in the final — the highest individual score ever recorded in a men’s T20 World Cup title clash.

Kishan finished just behind his opening partner on the runs chart, aggregating 317 at a blistering strike rate of 193.29. After a 77 against Pakistan he slid to No. 3, crafting pivotal knocks versus England and New Zealand and rounding out the competition with a half-century in the final.

Pandya’s two fifties included a 28-ball 52 against Namibia, while his handy medium pace yielded nine timely wickets. Bumrah, named Player of the Match in the final, shared the tournament’s top-wicket honours with 14 scalps at an economy rate of 6.21; his 4 for 15 against the Black Caps sealed India’s triumph.

Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan claimed the other opening berth after topping the run charts with 383 at 76.60, including centuries against Sri Lanka and Namibia. South Africa’s Aiden Markram will captain the composite side, which also features England duo Will Jacks and Adil Rashid, West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, South African quick Lungi Ngidi and Zimbabwe seamer Blessing Muzarabani. Namibia’s Shadley van Schalkwyk has been named 12th man.
