For Leeds, the appeal is obvious. Daniel Farke’s side sit 16th in the table and have repeatedly laboured to break down deep-lying defences. Wilson’s trademark habit of drifting in from the right and unleashing shots offers a cutting edge the squad currently lacks. Equally important, signing a proven Premier League scorer without a transfer fee would represent shrewd business for a club determined to avoid another relegation scrap.

Competition will be fierce. Everton and Bournemouth reside in the top half and can offer greater short-term stability, while Palace have long admired the Welshman. West Ham’s involvement may hinge on whether they can climb out of the drop zone before the window opens. Wilson’s priority is understood to be regular football at a mid-table club; Leeds must therefore guarantee him a leading attacking role to leapfrog their rivals.
