Journalist names player whose agents are in “close contact with Chelsea,” summer move possible

Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi could be on the move this summer after emerging as a prime target for Chelsea, according to journalist Matteo Moretto. The 28-year-old Argentine is reportedly close to deciding his next destination, with his representatives maintaining “close contact” with Stamford Bridge officials ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Chelsea’s interest in Senesi is not new; the Blues have tracked the centre-back for some time and are understood to be prioritising defensive reinforcements after a season marred by lapses at the back. A failed January approach for France U-21 international Jeremy Jacquet, who ultimately joined Liverpool, left the squad short of cover following Levi Colwill’s pre-season ACL injury. The absence of a natural replacement has been felt acutely: Liam Rosenior’s side have registered only four clean sheets since he took the reins, three of those against Pafos, Hull City and Port Vale.
Beyond Senesi, Chelsea have been credited with an interest in Murillo as they look to add Premier League-proven talent to their back line. Yet Moretto reports that Senesi’s camp is “in close contact with Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester United,” placing the west London club at the forefront of the race. “The rest of the teams are much further away,” the journalist added, suggesting a three-horse duel for the Bournemouth man’s signature.
With Champions League qualification still mathematically possible, Sunday’s clash with Manchester City looms large. Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah are unavailable, increasing the urgency to secure defensive depth ahead of next season. A summer swoop for Senesi could provide both immediate competition and long-term stability as Chelsea look to return to Europe’s elite.
