Former Rockstar Dev Says GTA 6 Will Likely Reuse Fan-Favorite Systems from RDR2
Former Rockstar Games audio designer Robb Carr believes Grand Theft Auto VI will recycle and build upon several of the gameplay systems that made Red Dead Redemption 2 a critical darling. Speaking without any privileged access to the still-unannounced project, Carr pointed to Rockstar’s history of cross-pollinating mechanics between franchises as evidence that GTA VI could adopt RDR2’s heightened realism and reactive world design.
Carr highlighted the way Grand Theft Auto V repurposed Red Dead Redemption’s Dead Eye mechanic into the special abilities of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, arguing that a similar philosophy could carry forward into GTA VI. He speculated that features like reputation-driven NPC behavior, dynamic weather impacts, and meticulous attention to environmental detail—hallmarks of the 2018 Western epic—might reappear in the next entry of the crime saga.
While stressing that his comments are purely speculative, Carr emphasized that Rockstar has long treated its previous titles as testbeds for future innovations. If that pattern holds, players could expect a living world that reacts to protagonist choices in ways reminiscent of Arthur Morgan’s adventures across the American frontier.
