Barcelona are pushing to turn Marcus Rashford’s loan into a permanent summer switch after what transfer expert Fabrizio Romano describes as “very advanced talks” with both the player and Manchester United.
The 28-year-old England forward has contributed 23 goals and assists in all competitions since arriving at the Camp Nou and has quickly become central to the club’s attacking plans. Romano reports that Rashford is “happy” in Catalonia and that the club hierarchy view him as a long-term reference point who can operate across the front line.
Barcelona’s sporting department have already opened negotiations over personal terms, with Rashford receptive to remaining in Spain. The major hurdle remains the €30 million buy-option clause inserted in the original loan agreement. While the Spanish side hope to reduce that figure, United are refusing to budge, insisting the clause must be triggered in full to sanction the transfer.
“Barcelona would like to reduce the €30 million request, while United insist on the €30 million buy option to be activated for Rashford or nothing,” Romano stated on his YouTube channel, underlining the stand-off between the two European heavyweights.
With Rashford’s Old Trafford future effectively closed, all parties are motivated to reach a compromise. Barcelona’s desire to add depth and quality to their forward unit aligns with Rashford’s wish to continue his career resurgence in La Liga, leaving negotiators on both sides racing to finalise a deal in the coming weeks.
