Barcelona sporting director Deco has identified Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni as his primary objective for the upcoming summer window, according to reporter Matteo Moretti.
Speaking to Radio Marca, Moretti stated that the Italy international has become the Blaugrana’s priority reinforcement and has not dismissed the idea of leaving the San Siro at season’s end.
“It’s a market issue that depends on the elections. Deco wants Bastoni; he would be his main target,” Moretti explained.
The 25-year-old centre-back is said to be aware of Barcelona’s interest and, while he has not committed to the move, is intrigued by the prospect of playing in Catalonia.
Italian media reports suggest Inter could sanction Bastoni’s departure if their valuation—believed to be at least €70 million—is met.
Although central defence tops Deco’s agenda, Barcelona are also scouring the market for attacking additions. The club are in the market for a new striker and possibly a winger, with Julian Alvarez among the names repeatedly linked to the club.
Barcelona also admire an Argentine forward currently on Atlético Madrid’s books, but Los Rojiblancos are reportedly unwilling to negotiate with their LaLiga rivals.
