Confirmed line-up: Four changes for Man City FA Cup tie, Livramento on bench

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has made four alterations to the side that defeated Manchester United in mid-week as the Magpies prepare to host Manchester City in today’s FA Cup encounter at St. James’ Park.

Will Osula, Nick Woltemade, Sven Botman and Joe Willock all come into the XI, while Anthony Gordon, Joelinton and Dan Burn drop to the bench. Jacob Ramsey is unavailable through suspension.

Aaron Ramsdale retains his place in goal after an assured display against United, and the England international will be protected by a back four of Kieran Trippier—who again wears the captain’s armband—Lewis Hall, Botman and Malick Thiaw. Hall, who scored in last month’s league meeting with City, starts at left-back, while Botman partners Thiaw in the heart of defence.

Sandro Tonali, celebrating his 100th competitive Newcastle appearance in last week’s win over Everton, anchors midfield alongside Willock. Out wide, Anthony Elanga and Harvey Barnes—both on the scoresheet against City earlier this season—flank the attack, with Woltemade, fresh from a bout of illness, operating centrally. Osula, whose dramatic late strike sank United on Wednesday, has been handed only his fifth start of the campaign in all competitions.

Tino Livramento is among the substitutes and will reach a personal milestone of 100 club appearances should the 23-year-old right-back take the field. Fellow options from the bench include Nick Pope, Yoane Wissa, Jacob Murphy, Sean Neave and Alex Murphy.

Kick-off at St. James’ Park is moments away as Newcastle look to spring another surprise against the reigning cup holders.
