Chelsea willing to ‘listen to offers’ for centre-back trio

Chelsea have placed Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoît Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah on the market as the club accelerate plans to overhaul their central-defence department, TEAMtalk understands.

All three players are available for the right price, with Stamford Bridge decision-makers believing the current options are “not quite good enough” to sustain a sustained push for the game’s biggest honours.

Adarabioyo and Badiashile have been peripheral figures this season, making only sporadic appearances, while academy graduate Chalobah has been a near ever-present, starting all but one of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures so far.

Yet the 26-year-old England international’s home-grown status makes his departure particularly attractive from a financial standpoint: any fee received would register as pure profit on the books and create significant headroom for reinvestment under the Premier League’s profit-and-sustainability rules.

Chalobah’s steady performances have not gone unnoticed elsewhere; Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur have all monitored his situation in previous windows and could rekindle their interest this summer.

Chelsea’s recruitment team have already identified a primary target to refresh the heart of defence. Nottingham Forest’s Brazilian centre-half Murillo, valued at more than £50 million, has emerged as a leading candidate, although Liverpool are also tracking the 21-year-old.

As the club weigh up incoming and outgoing deals, the futures of Adarabioyo, Badiashile and Chalobah will be among the key storylines to watch when the transfer window reopens.
