Who has made Troy's Premier League team of the week?

BBC pundit Troy Deeney has unveiled his latest Premier League Team of the Week, highlighting the stand-out performers from the most recent round of fixtures.

Newcastle United dominate the XI with three selections. Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale earns the nod after an influential display against Chelsea, praised for his shot-stopping, command of the box and composure in possession. Midfielder Joe Willock is credited with a “coming-of-age” performance, outshining Chelsea’s high-priced engine room of Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo, while winger Anthony Gordon continues his hot streak in front of goal.

Liverpool supply two players. Dominik Szoboszlai is lauded for a stunning free-kick and an assured display at right-back, described by Deeney as looking “like he has played there his whole life”. Teenager Rio Ngumoha also features after injecting directness and intelligence in the Reds’ draw with Tottenham.

Arsenal’s defensive rock William Saliba is labelled “a Rolls Royce” for his ever-present composure, while young Gunners midfielder Max Dowman is tipped as a potential title-decider following an assertive cameo that almost yielded a debut goal.

West Ham’s Konstantinos Mavropanos is celebrated as an “old-school centre-back” after blocking a fierce Erling Haaland effort with his face and scoring the winner against Manchester City. Leeds defender Jaka Bijol is recognised for marshalling a depleted back line with aggression and discipline.

Brighton veteran James Milner, still going strong at 40, is honoured for a solid 90-minute shift that showcased his enduring game management. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who has set a new club record with 16 Premier League assists this season, is dubbed “Mr Manchester United”.

Completing the selection, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is named Manager of the Week. Deeney applauded Howe for rotating his squad effectively after a draining Champions League clash with Barcelona and still guiding the Magpies to a vital victory over Chelsea to keep their European ambitions alive.
