Transfer Rumors: Man Utd’s £200 Million Midfield Swoop; Barcelona Find Rashford Alternative
Manchester United are ready to reshape their midfield at considerable expense, with emerging reports suggesting the club could spend close to £200 million to secure two priority targets. Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson sit at the top of the recruitment shortlist, and officials have been informed that prising both players away from their current clubs will demand that record-level outlay.
The scale of the proposed investment underlines United’s determination to inject fresh energy into the engine room, particularly with veteran Casemiro expected to depart. To that end, United have also sounded out Real Madrid over 21-year-old Eduardo Camavinga. Spanish outlet OKdiario claims Madrid would entertain offers in the region of €75 million for the French international, opening the door to a potential switch that would soften the blow of Casemiro’s exit.
While United weigh up record spending, Bayern Munich have distanced themselves from a move for Bruno Fernandes. According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, the Bundesliga giants view other positions as more urgent, leaving the Portugal playmaker’s future unresolved for now.
Across the market, Arsenal have initiated talks with Rafael Leão’s representatives. AC Milan are now willing to sanction the winger’s sale but will not budge on a valuation above €75 million, a fee that has also piqued United’s interest.
Chelsea, meanwhile, intend to retain Trevoh Chalobah despite strong pursuit from Aston Villa, who eye the defender as the long-term successor to Tyrone Mings. Spurs have set firm price tags on two of their own assets: €25 million for goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, targeted by Inter, and upwards of £57 million for teenage midfielder Lucas Bergvall, coveted by Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Darwin Núñez is angling for a Premier League return after a brief stint at Al Hilal, with Newcastle United and Tottenham among the clubs approached by intermediaries. Newcastle could yet part with Malick Thiaw, a centre-back on the radar of Bayern Munich, United and Liverpool.
Real Madrid are edging toward a deal for Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, although Barcelona retain a watching brief. Yet the Catalans are prioritising Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni and are prepared to let their Clásico rivals secure Schlotterbeck without a bidding war.
Barcelona’s attacking focus has shifted as well. Manager Hansi Flick is content to forgo a permanent move for Marcus Rashford if the club can instead strike a deal for Manchester City’s Brazilian prodigy Savinho, a target now viewed as a superior tactical fit.
Finally, Atlético Madrid have slapped a €200 million valuation on Julián Alvarez, with Barcelona hoping player exchanges such as Marc Casadó, Ansu Fati and Eric García will lower the cash demand.
