Tottenham Hotspur fires coach Thomas Frank

Tottenham Hotspur have dismissed head coach Thomas Frank with immediate effect, the club confirmed on Wednesday, bringing a premature end to the Dane’s tenure after barely eight months in charge.
Frank, appointed in June 2025, was promised time and resources to “build for the future together,” but a dramatic slide toward the relegation zone has forced the Spurs hierarchy into an abrupt rethink. The north Londoners currently sit 16th in the Premier League, just two points above the drop zone, and have won only two of their last 11 competitive fixtures. Home form has been particularly alarming: Tottenham have secured victory in just three of their last 17 league matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In a brief statement released hours after the decision, the club praised Frank’s dedication but conceded that results had left no alternative.
“Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together,” the statement read. “However, results and performances have led the board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary. Throughout his time at the club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
No interim successor was named, leaving Tottenham’s coaching staff to prepare for Sunday’s high-stakes derby against first-place Arsenal, scheduled for 11:30 a.m. EST on Feb. 22 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Gunners arrive in formidable form, unbeaten in 16 of their last 17 outings, and will sense an opportunity to deepen their rivals’ woes.
Frank’s departure intensifies the spotlight on a club that has cycled through four permanent managers since 2023. With 12 league fixtures remaining, Tottenham’s next appointment will be tasked with engineering a swift turnaround to preserve their top-flight status and appease an increasingly restless fan base.
