Germany’s women’s national team launched its World Cup Qualifying campaign in emphatic fashion on Tuesday, dismantling Slovenia 5-0 in a one-sided encounter that could easily have produced an even wider margin.
Vivien Endemann ignited the rout inside six minutes, timing a perfectly angled off-the-shoulder run that Linda Dallmann spotted from midfield. Stationed on the flank normally patrolled by the injured Klara Bühl, Endemann raced clear of the back line and slipped a composed left-foot finish between the goalkeeper’s legs.
The 21-year-old turned provider five minutes later, feinting a shot on the edge of the area before sliding the ball centrally to Elisa Senß, who curled a sensational strike inside the far post for a 2-0 lead.
Germany continued to press but a combination of wayward finishing and timely interventions from Slovenia’s keeper kept the score unchanged until the interval, while Ann-Katrin Berger produced a pair of smart saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The hosts picked up where they left off after the restart. In the 49th minute Senß threaded a precise pass into the box for Bayern Munich’s Linda Dallmann, who converted from an acute angle. Barely ten minutes later debutant Larissa Mühlhaus reacted first to a loose ball, swiveling to lash an acrobatic volley into the top corner for 4-0.
The scoring was capped in the 72nd minute when Lea Schüller, fresh off her summer move to Manchester United, split the center-backs with a darting run and finished first-time from Endemann’s low cross, sealing a statement victory that sets an early marker in the qualifying group.
