Lancashire appoint Mott as T20 coaching consultant
Lancashire have bolstered their white-ball setup by appointing Matthew Mott as a specialist T20 coaching consultant. The 52-year-old Australian, who left his role as England’s men’s white-ball coach in July 2024, will lend his expertise to the county’s Blast campaigns for the next two seasons.
Mott’s arrival at Emirates Old Trafford comes with a glittering résumé. Between 2022 and 2024 he steered England’s men to the T20 World Cup title in 2022, and during a seven-year tenure with Australia’s women he delivered both the T20 and 50-over World Cups. His record of sustained success in global tournaments has been highlighted by director of cricket performance Mark Chilton.
“Matthew’s track record speaks for itself,” Chilton told the club website. “He has achieved sustained success at international level, winning global tournaments and leading high-performing teams in pressure environments. His experience and tactical insights will be hugely beneficial to our Blast campaigns over the next two seasons.”
In addition to his consultancy role with Lancashire, Mott will take charge of the rebranded Manchester Super Giants women’s side in this year’s Hundred, ensuring a seamless transition from county consultancy to franchise leadership once the Vitality Blast concludes.
