Jersey to play historic fixture at Lord's

Jersey’s national cricket team will step onto the most celebrated stage in the sport on Thursday when they face the Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord’s, marking the first time the island side has contested a match at the Home of Cricket.
The fixture forms part of Jersey’s build-up to next month’s T20 World Cup Europe Sub-regional Qualifier A, to be held in Cyprus from 16-23 May. Victory in that tournament would propel the island into the final round of European qualifying for the 2028 T20 World Cup.
In addition to the prestige of playing at Lord’s, Jersey have scheduled four T20 encounters with Scotland A at Grainville on 18 and 19 April, sharpening their white-ball skills ahead of the Cyprus qualifiers.
Jersey came within touching distance of this year’s T20 World Cup, finishing third in a five-team qualifying event in the Netherlands last summer. The upcoming matches, beginning with the historic outing at Lord’s, offer another pathway to global competition.
“Playing at Lord’s, the Home of Cricket, is a special honour,” said Jersey Cricket chief executive Sarah Gomersall. “The occasion offers players and everyone involved a unique opportunity to experience one of the most historic venues in world sport, adding further significance to an already meaningful fixture.”
