St George’s, Grenada – In a significant leadership shuffle ahead of a pivotal white-ball campaign, Jamaican all-rounder Chinelle Henry has been appointed vice-captain of the West Indies Women’s side for the upcoming six-match assignment against Sri Lanka. Henry steps into the role previously held by veteran wicketkeeper Shemaine Campbelle and will assist skipper Hayley Matthews, who has declared herself fully fit after the shoulder complaint that forced her to miss last June’s Women’s Caribbean Premier League.
The assignment opens with three One-Day Internationals on 20 February at the National Cricket Stadium, followed by a trio of T20 Internationals at the same venue. Points from the ODI segment count toward the ICC Women’s Championship, making every fixture critical to the regional side’s bid to climb the standings. The squad will then turn its attention to further ODIs later this year against Australia, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Pakistan, underscoring the importance of momentum gained in Grenada.
Henry’s promotion adds another Jamaican thread to the leadership fabric, joining former captain Stafanie Taylor, who is also included in the 15-member unit. Star all-rounder Deandra Dottin returns as well, having been restricted to minimal game time through injury during most of the team’s 2025 schedule.
The full touring party reads: Captain Hayley Matthews, Vice-Captain Chinelle Henry, Aaliyah Alleyne, Shemaine Campbelle, Jahzara Claxton, Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Jannillea Glasgow, Realeanna Grimmond, Shawnisha Hector, Qiana Joseph, Ashmini Munisar, Karishma Ramharack, Shunelle Sawh and Stafanie Taylor.
