Jadon Sancho: Five Premier League sides vying for his signature

Manchester United’s long-running Jadon Sancho saga is approaching its final chapter, with the winger set to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer this summer after the club confirmed they will not trigger the one-year extension in his contract. Despite underwhelming loan spells at Chelsea and, currently, Aston Villa, the 25-year-old England international has emerged as a surprise target for a clutch of Premier League clubs, as well as leading sides from Italy, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Teamtalk understands that at least five unnamed English top-flight teams have contacted Sancho’s representatives in recent weeks to gauge his intentions once his United deal expires. While the player himself has signalled a preference to rejoin former club Borussia Dortmund, the level of domestic interest suggests the winger will not be short of options should the Bundesliga giants fail to formalise their interest.
Sancho’s stock has fallen sharply since his £73 million move from Dortmund in 2021. He has scored only once and provided a single assist during his Villa loan, and Unai Emery’s side are yet to decide whether to pursue a permanent deal. Champions League qualification and a marked upturn in performances between now and May could yet tempt Villa to enter the race, but sources indicate the Midlands club remain unconvinced at present.
Dortmund, who have already benefited from two previous stints with Sancho, view a reunion as a low-risk opportunity to revive a player who registered 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances during his earlier spell at Signal Iduna Park. Exploratory discussions have taken place, and Sancho has instructed his camp to prioritise a return to Germany.
Away from England and Germany, Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas are monitoring developments, as are several Saudi Pro League outfits eager to secure a high-profile free transfer. Yet with Premier League clubs now actively canvassing his entourage, Sancho’s next destination remains uncertain.
For Manchester United, offloading Sancho is part of a broader summer clear-out designed to raise funds and trim a wage bill inflated by under-performing stars. Alongside expected departures for Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia, United hope to generate around £70 million through the sales of Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund. Sancho’s exit will at least remove a sizeable salary without a transfer fee, allowing INEOS to accelerate their squad rebuild under a streamlined budget.
Whether the winger can recapture the form that once made him one of Europe’s most coveted talents remains to be seen, but the queue of suitors indicates confidence that a fresh start could yet revive his career.
