Gerard Martin not interested in leaving Barcelona for AC Milan

Barcelona defender Gerard Martin has no intention of swapping the Camp Nou for the San Siro, despite mounting speculation that AC Milan are ready to table a €30 million bid for the 21-year-old.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Martin “has no interest whatsoever” in a transfer to the Serie A heavyweights, preferring to continue his development in Catalonia, where he has established himself as a key component of Hansi Flick’s plans this season.
Since breaking into the first-team picture, Martin’s adaptability has caught the eye: the left-back has also been deployed in central defence, and his minutes tally places him 12th among all squad members in the 2025-26 campaign. That growing responsibility underlines the confidence the coaching staff have placed in a player who first joined the club’s academy as a child.
Any hopes Milan had of luring the defender were further dented in January, when Martin signed a contract extension that ties him to Barcelona through 2028. Announcing the renewal, Martin spoke of his lifelong connection to the club: “For me this renewal is everything. Basically because I have been a Barça player since I was very young and when I arrived here I always had the dream of reaching the first team.”
With Barcelona now preparing to raise the release clauses of their emerging talents, Martin appears set to remain part of the club’s long-term project rather than entertain interest from abroad.
