Deco planning two summer sales so Barcelona can land a new defender and a striker

Barcelona sporting director Deco has outlined a summer transfer strategy built around two key exits designed to fund a new center-back and center-forward, according to Diario Sport.

With the club in election mode and formal business on hold until the next president is confirmed next month, Deco is already mapping out a two-step plan. The first priority is to lighten the wage bill, beginning with a decision on veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, who will either depart on a free transfer or remain only on significantly reduced terms.

Parallel discussions are taking place over the futures of Marc-André ter Stegen and Ansu Fati, both currently away on loan. Finding permanent takers for the pair is viewed as essential to trimming salary commitments, though no agreements are close.

Once those moves are resolved, Deco believes two sales from the senior squad will be necessary to create both financial room and roster space for incoming reinforcements. While no names have been advanced in the latest report, earlier chatter suggested that versatile midfielder Marc Casado could be made available if a suitable offer arrives.

The overarching goal is clear: balance the books sufficiently to authorize arrivals in the two positions Barcelona covet most—central defense and the attacking spine—without breaching LaLiga’s financial controls.
