City of Vernon Completes New Cricket Pitch at DND Athletic Park

Vernon is officially joining the cricket boom. After a surge in local interest that has seen teams form in Vernon, Kelowna and neighbouring communities, the City has finished construction of a brand-new cricket pitch at the DND Athletic Park, located at 1415 Mission Road.

Council will receive confirmation of the project’s completion during its regular Monday meeting, marking the latest step in the municipality’s effort to support the sport’s rapid expansion across the region.

To showcase the facility, the North Okanagan Cricket Club will stage a tournament on April 19, with the first ball scheduled for 10 a.m. The event will serve as both a grand opening for the pitch and a celebration of cricket’s growing footprint in the North Okanagan.

The addition of purpose-built cricket infrastructure at the DND Athletic Park is expected to give local players a dedicated home while encouraging new participants to take up the game.
