Mumbai, June 25 — In a late rejig ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has swapped the home venues of Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings for two league-stage fixtures originally slated for late April and May. The revision, announced on Wednesday, stems from a clash with municipal elections in Gujarat scheduled for April 26.
Under the updated itinerary, the April 26 encounter that was to be hosted by Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will now be played at Chennai’s M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. Conversely, the return leg—earmarked for Chennai in the first week of May—has been shifted to Ahmedabad, ensuring both franchises retain an equal number of home and away games.
BCCI’s IPL operations team said the move was made after consultations with state associations and local administration to avoid logistical hurdles on polling day. The revised schedule has been circulated to all stakeholders, and ticket holders for the affected matches will receive fresh entry details from the respective franchises within 48 hours.
IPL 2026 will continue to comprise 74 matches, with the playoffs and final dates remaining unchanged.
