Bayern Munich Frauen defeat FC Köln 3-0

Bayern Munich’s women’s side overcame both a depleted squad and a spirited FC Köln to record a commanding 3-0 victory at home, extending their remarkable run to 18 wins from 19 Bundesliga fixtures this season.

The reigning champions arrived at the match short-handed: injuries limited head coach Thomas Wörle to only seven substitutes, two of whom—German internationals Giulia Gwinn and Franziska Kett—were themselves questionable after a bout of illness and a foot knock respectively. Yet the reshuffled lineup quickly found cohesion after an uneven opening quarter-hour.

Pernille Harder provided the breakthrough in the 21st minute, sprinting onto Georgia Stanway’s perfectly weighted long pass and slotting past the onrushing goalkeeper. Eight minutes later Harder struck again, this time courtesy of Linda Dallmann’s incisive ball and a clever dummy that left the Danish forward with time to finish inside the box.

Dallmann turned scorer in the 38th minute, lashing a right-footed effort into the roof of the net from an acute angle to effectively seal the contest before the interval.

The second half settled into a quieter rhythm. Köln rarely threatened, managing only hopeful shots and crosses that Bayern keeper Ena Mahmutovic collected comfortably. The hosts, content to protect their lead, introduced 18-year-old defender Laila Portella for her Bundesliga debut—adding a bright footnote to an otherwise routine afternoon.

With the win, Bayern move at least 11 points clear of second-placed VfL Wolfsburg, who still have a match in hand. Seven league games remain on the calendar; four more victories will mathematically secure a successive championship.

Attention now turns to Friday’s trip to SGS Essen, followed by a mid-week journey to Manchester United for the first leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals.
