Barcelona academy graduate wants to stay at club amid Manchester United interest

Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde has no intention of leaving the Catalan giants despite emerging as a reported target for Manchester United, according to fresh information from journalist Ben Jacobs.

The 22-year-old La Masia product, whose performances have oscillated between impressive and inconsistent this season, remains a key component of Hansi Flick’s plans at Camp Nou. While United’s director Christopher Vivell is understood to have floated Balde’s name as a potential summer reinforcement, sources indicate the suggestion is unlikely to advance beyond preliminary interest.

No direct negotiations have taken place between the clubs, nor have United opened discussions with Balde’s representatives. The Premier League side, currently pursuing a top-four finish to secure a return to the UEFA Champions League, already count Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu among their left-back options, meaning any pursuit of Balde would require a reshuffle in that department.

Balde, contracted to Barcelona until 2028, has featured in 32 matches across all competitions this campaign, contributing three assists. With his long-term commitment to the Blaugrana firm, United are expected to explore alternative targets as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window.
